I need to make a birthday cake for my niece but she wants a wonky cake. My time is limited so I was planning on making the cake in advance. If crumb coat the cake and ice it, how long will the cake stay fresh for.?

I don't want to put all my effort into baking only to find the cake has gone stale?

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated

The cake can't go stale once the icing is on and the air can't get to it to dry it out.

If you're thinking about making it many days in advance, you could freeze it.
