I am going to make my first teapot cake and need to know how to attach the spout and handle. The cake will be frosted in bc and the spout and handle made with fondant/gumpaste. It seems that they will be heavy and I am concerned as to how to have them stay on the side of the cake. Thanks

I tried to figure out the angle it would be at and put cut dowels in the spout and handle while they were soft and let it harden like that. It wasn't perfect but it worked.

Thanks pamama, that is what I was thinking I would need to do. Is this how everyone else secures the spout?

I use skewers or toothpics, not as thick as dowels. Make sure they go into the cake and not the filling when inserting them. Don't make the handle and spouts too big - a lot of people do, and they don't look right. I have made many of them - there are a couple in my pics.
