Is there anyway to achieve the look of brick without the impression mat? I have turned my house upside down looking for the brand new Duff one I purchased a couple months ago and it isn't anywhere icon_sad.gif

Are you using buttercream or fondant?

I made brick buildings before I had my impression mat by using a flat tip (45 maybe?) to pipe bricks along in a alternating rows. Super fast and looked great. (I'd post a pic but they all have my kids in them, lol) With an impression mat you are making the mortar part/indents, with the piping method you are actually making the bricks. HTH

I just made some bricks for my daughters Mario Bros. cake. I just used a ruler and a knife, not going all the way through. It was super easy and fast. Guess it depends on how much brick you need to make. icon_smile.gif

Thanks Cakecraft and Scarlets-Cakes!
I am using fondant. I may try it with a ruler tonight. I need to make the entire building brick. It's not a terribly big cake but it's alot of brick to have to do by hand.
