I will soon be making a 6-9-12 cake using various WASC recipes; each tier will be a different flavor. I was thinking the 6 inch would require 1/2 a recipe (1 cake mix) with some left over. The 9 inch will take a 1/2 recipe (1 cake mix) and the 12 inch will take a full recipe (2 cake mixes). Does this sound right?
The brand of mix and the flavor will play in to how many cups of batter you get from the WASC. When I make it using one cake mix I get about 6-7 cups of batter.
6 in needs 2 cups per layer, so 4 cups of batter.
9 in needs 5.5 cups per layer, so 11 cups of batter.
12in needs 7.5 per layer, so 15 cups of batter.
