I will be making a cake for my sisters baby shower next month. Im really new to all this. If i do a two tier stacked cake, my first question is do i need to cover the cardboard cake board that will be between the first and second tier? Secondly, how do you cut into it? I know at weddings they take it in the back and disassemble it, but wont be doing that. Should I start on the top tier or the bottom? Or do i need to take the top tier off? Thanks for any advice!!

If you take the top tier off and start serving the bottom tier first, if there are any leftovers, it's always easier for someone to take home the smaller tier.
