any ideas? always happens - recipe makes more than you need and there is extra btter - keep in fridge until the next cake? if so - how long?

I just put into sealed container - name and date container and pop in freezer.
If there isn't that much to freeze you can pour into zip lock bag and then freeze.
I haven't kept it for longer than one month.

What if you baked the excess batter - then crumbled -again just placing in zip lock bag and freezing.....and kept for cake balls
