I am planning to deliver a cake with 2 of the 4 tiers stacked before delivery and plan on finishing the stacking at the venue. Do you think I need to put a central dowel after the rest of the tiers are stacked or should it be ok? Thanks for you help!

I just took a 4 tier stacked cake all ready and assembled (6",9",12" and 15" rounds) and drove for about 102' TX heat for a good 1 1/2 hour.It was fine..
I stuck one long dowel through the bottom three tiers.and then stacked the 6" round and drove a long dowel through all 4 tiers.

most people use a central dowel for extra stability in transport, so if your stacking on site, then no. i wouldnt central dowel a two tier anyway, but if you normally would, maybe best to stick with what works for you.
