Thinking---*see the thought bubble over my head*???

You know all the thumbsdown.gif Stuff in the news anymore.. economy, politics, oil spill--on and on and bloody on...??

I think people tend to gravitate back to a simpler time when things get more than they can take. Maybe this is why we're seeing some of this as well. I know I find myself reminiscing back over old times and telling my kids what this was like or that was like--heck, I was driving the other day with my son and got frustrated with all the buttons on the radio and just screamed out that I wanted one like I had when I first started driving-!!

ON OFF Buttons you pulled out to set and a twisty dial to turn to the station!! I don't care about the woofers tweeters innies outies uppies downies and whatever else is on that thing!!

Yea, I'm old!

Ham,
That one looks sort of like ours, with the artificial lily of the valley.

I thought of that cake I made when I saw yours. That was during the time when the artificial lily of valleys were the trend in decorating a wedding cake (LOL). Thanks for posting your cake.

The funny thing is I don't remember choosing ANYTHING about our wedding cake. You picked the venue, and they provided a white wedding cake with roses (ours were peachy salmon) to match your color scheme. PERIOD.

Lately, brides have just been requesting, "just something simple," a two tiered cake for 250 guests, and then sheet cakes for the rest. Where is the fun in that. How about bringing back elaborate cakes and getting rid of the sheet cake weddings??

Maybe it's because I'm from D.C. but those massive rectangle cakes with the semi-circle on the front with the big domed fountain in the middle with stairs just really remind me of the Capitol building under construction hehe! I can't imagine making a cake that big!! Definately a centerpiece cake for sure!!

...I guess I'm one of the odd ones out; I love doing the cupcake weddings!! I have one in my photos that was just a blast to make!
