I am making a care bear tiered cake for my daughters 1st birthday (which is next week!) icon_cry.gif

I am planning on a 10, 8, 6 (I believe, might go 12, 9, 6). I am going to do FBCT's on the sides of the tiers (a few of the care bears, like funshine bear, friend bear, etc..). would like to have a "birthday bear" topper.

I cannot do 3D figurines out of gum paste - I just dont have the skill. What are my other options?

Thanks for any ideas!

Similar to your FBCT you can make the topper out of a chocolate/colorflow transfer, or a royal icing flooded image...

will that be strong enough to stand up on its own? Would I need to add support for it?

I have never worked with royal icing before, lol.

OK, so I think I can just make 2 transfers (mirror images of each other) and "glue" them together with a popsicle stick in the middle for support. That way it will be able to be relatively tall, stand up, and be visible from both sides of the cake.
