I had a MOB call about a wedding cake Knew exactly what size and Design she wanted. I gave her my per slice price and how many servings it would give her. I told her $50 to hold the date with balanced to be paid 2 weeks before. You mean I have to pay for it before the wedding?? Like her dress and the caterer's and the hall haven't been paid!

Absolutely normal to pay prior. In fact mine must be paid 3 weeks prior.

No money, No cake.
I know a few people who wouldn't pay upfront so I didn't take the orders.
I can't take the chance on them not paying.. And I know 2 of the weddings actually didn't even happen(broke up 1month before weddings)and they didn't want to leave a deposit. So, YES, get all the money at least 2 weeks in advance.
