What exactly is a lemon torte? icon_eek.gif A friend asked me to make her one and I'm not sure what it really is! I've seen some recipes for a single, layer cake they call a torte, then I've seen cakes that look like a regular layered cake...what makes a torte a torte? detective.gif

The traditional definition of a torte is a dense cake with very little flour, lots of eggs, and usually has nuts. Many people have begun to call regular cake a torte - I guess cause it sounds fancier!
