I've never made one before; but if you click on galleries then click search in the dark purple strip (it's the last tab). Type camera cakes in the search box; a bunch of nice ones come up. My suggestion is to check each picture. Some of the decorators might explain how they did it; or just pm them.

The best camera cake I have seen was done by TipTop57. I'm not sure if she is still coming here or not or if she is willing to help with instructions, but here is a link to her pic.

I made a nikon camera cake - http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1659603
I was asked to make a specific camera so I just went online and printed out as many photos as possible. The base of the camera was cake, but the lens attachment was rice krispy treats. I covered everything in black fondant and added the different buttons and stuff. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I even made some poured sugar and made a "lens". On the back of the cake (which you can't see) I got an edible image made of the birthday boy so it looked like the viewfinder.
