Anyone Here From The Newport News Area?

We are heading there next week on vacation and I would love to here input on the best family friendly places to stay.
I have researched and researched on line for places to stay but I would like some local suggestions too. I have found from past experience that if pictures of places to stay are 7-10 years old, the pics are considered outdated and may not be an accurate predictor of the quality of the place. And many reviews are mixed for some of the places I have looked into. We will be traveling with 4 children between 3 1/2 and 10.
Also, suggestions for things to do while in Virginia? Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, etc? And best prices or discounts for the suggestions?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
