Do you use anything to attach real ribbon around the base of the cake?

Is contact paper "food safe"? I use wax paper between the ribbon and the cake.

some one on cc gave me this great info.. use white chocolate chips to hold the end of the ribbon together. you don't need pins or glue.. that's all I use now, great tip.. hope that helps
