Hello Everyone,

I have the Wilton "beautiful gumpaste flowers" set - plastic green cutter set which has 24 cutters... BUT I need to make some gumpaste Peonies.... this set does not have a Peony in it (as far as i can tell)... so wondering if anyone has any suggestions/ideas of how i can make some gumpaste peonies using what i have?

Just take a large petal cutter or cut ot big teardrop shapes freehand and then you can use a small pair of scissors to make tiny cuts to get a uneven edge. Then frill them with a veiner stick or cocktail stick. And glue together in something cupped or do each petal on a stem

I also use a pattern scissor ( scrap booking ) witch gives a wavy edge for gumpaste

Here is a great tutorial for peony making.

I realize you don't have the peony cutter, but you can see what shapes you need to fashion as well as the layering you will need to do to get the basic shape of a peony. Don't forget, peonies come in all forms from very frilly to quite plain. Using egensinnig's suggestion and this tutorial to help you along should provide you with favorable results.

i make them with a rose petal cutter. it's important to dry them on an artists palet to get the shape. i did them once in a large muffin pan but the edges were too round.
