This may sound crazy but everyone talks about covering rice krispy treat shapes with fondant. Can you just use butter cream to cover the RKT? And if anyone has any ideas I am trying to make horses this is a whole new world of shaping things for me not using cake...haha

Yes, buttercream-covered RKT shapes get fought over around here.
I add a little vanilla to the RKT recipe, others omit all or part of the butter.

Its your style and preference. Me, I just like the look better with mmf or modeling chcolate over the rkt. If you look at this pic the tree is rkt covered with mmf......never would look as good in bc

I wonder if you couldn't dip your RKT's in chocolate as a covering as well. You'd probably have to dip them, let them cool and dip them again to fill in the nooks and crannies. Hummmm! I might have to try that out.

Thank you guys so much for the input it seems i'm on a horse making challenge today. Oh and I loved the jungle cake! If only I was anywhere close to good.
