Just wondering what size cake box holds 1 doz cupcakes?

With a cupcake insert, a 10x14 box will hold a dozen.

do you need the insert?

no, you don't need an insert. However, they tend to move around alot and tip over with out them.

I have used the non skid pads in there before and they help but it is not as good as having the inserts.
