It's been a little while since I've been here. About a week and a half ago I miscarried at 7 weeks. The loss has been really rough but now I'm working through it and trying to get started back into life. And I have a cake order for Sunday! The order is for a full sheet cake, I make my full sheets from 2 11x15's side-by-side. The problem is by the time it sits for a little while it's like you can see the "seam" of where the 2 cakes come together. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks
Missy
Fist of all, let me say that I am soooo sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It must have been devastating.
Regarding your cake..do you put icing between the two ends before pushing them up against each other? If not, that is the only suggestion that I have. Also, make sure you level them together before flipping them over.
cakemomof3, I also am very sorry for your loss. When I put two cakes together I do like MrsMissey and also will cut a little off the ends and then ice, this seems to make them stick better![]()
I am so very sorry for your loss!
After trimming your cakes I would ice the "together" sides and then before you put the final icing on your cake, take a tip 12 or just the coupler alone with no tip and run a thick line of icing down the top of the seam to help fill in any gap and then put the final icing on. That way when you smooth out the final coat you shouldn't have any "channel" for the final icing to go into. Does that all make sense?

Nothing to add to the good advice you have already received, but I am really sorry for your loss!

Hi cakemomof3,
Just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your loss.
When I did the full sheet using the 2 11x15, I trimmed the two sides that would meet, iced and pushed together then I did a crumb icing down the middle.
Hope this helps.
Dear cakemomof3 I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.
