Exacto blades should be stainless steel. If you still have the package, it might say on there.

Thanks for the link (so suprised I didn't see it). I don't use cartridges as my designs are all done using graphic programs and tracing into SCAL. But the SCAL people (who responded in a matter of seconds from my email) told me they don't know if their product will work with the cake . Looks like I may be returning it or cancelling my order. Bummer - but glad I saw these posts.

Update: it appears the SCAL people haven't run tests yet but one of the CC family PM'd me and let me know the SCAL does work with the cake cricut as she has used it - so good news at least for me. Still a bummer about the extra charges - guess I'll continue doing my own designs.

This is in reply to EJCAKELADY who just joined. If you read the full post not just show part of it you will see that a question had been asked about shipping overseas. I asked Linda about that in an email and she told me she could not reply to the question because she had been kicked off Cake Central for answering a question for someone. I posted her reply and she let the person know where the information was coming from. I am getting a little concerned about all the very negative and even false things that are being said on this forum. I posted the information about the nickle poisoning because I did do the research and shared it with others who may have been concerned.

Please ignore all my posts on this thread - I was misinformed regarding the charges and how SCAL works. Guess I'm posting in the wrong place with the wrong information...

Me, too! Could we all just play nicely and stick to the questions asked about in the post itself.

For those who answered my questions, thank you.

Jennifer, thank you for posting about the blade material. I for one would not have thought of checking, and I would prefer to be sure the blade is either stainless steel or carbon steel.

Thank you,
Kathi (the original poster!)

I recently went to a scrapbook show to check out the different cutters, knowing I wanted to be able to use it for cake decorating as well. I want something that will cut as many mediums and do as much as possible. I've decided I will get a Pazzles cutter. A hefty price but I think it's the most versatile and will be the best machine for me.

Not sure about the exacto blades, I believe most are stainless. I use scalpels and the blades are surgical steal.
