I have an order for a mad scientist beaker cake..What would you suggest I make the neck from?

I want it to be sturdy so it doesn't fall over

Thanks

build this kind of base cutting dowel 1" shy of total height of neck.

form RKT around it.

could do a much thinner dowel that only needs to be hammered and glued into a smaller hole. (tho' I might shoot a brad type nail up through bottom for extra measure after dowel was in hole)

Thanks Doug..I thought about hammering a dowel down through but I didn't want to split the RKT..What do you think about a cardboard tube like a paper towel roll? Sounds cheesy I know icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif or a light weight plastic tube?

One thing you could do is hammer in the dowel & then form the RKT around the dowel after it's secured.
