I want to make a gift box with the lid slightly opened and tissue poking out. My question is, if I make the top out of cake, how do I get it to stay at an angle with out it sliding off? Thank you!

i made a treasure chest cake, with the lid being cake, and I put cake board on bottom of the lid, then put sharpened wooden dowels in the chest and poked them through the cardboard on the lid a little bit, I didnt break all the way through just enough to hold it up.

The dowels are at the back? Into the lowest part of the lid? Thanks!

no I put them in the middle on tword the outside of the bottom.

I see. I guess because I couldn't see them, I thought that they must be in the back, but I guess there is enough treasure to cover them. And I guess I would have enough tissue to cover them. Thanks so much for your help!

yea I put ring pops around the dowels then set coins agains the dowel to cover them, hope yours comes out good!
