I'm just interested to know how many of you pour flavored syrups onto your cakes? Do you make your syrup from scratch or some some product?

Does it impact how you go about decorating your cake?

I've never done it but am tempted to give it a go.....

well yes alot of people add syrups on their cakes. It all depends on type of cake.

*EDITED to change*
I dont know what i was thinking, it really doesnt matter if you are a scratch or cake mix to add syrups

I use syrups once in a while. Usually to add an element of flavor to the cake or the enhance a flavor. I make them myself and flavor them with extracts or liqueres. It really depends on the cake and what I want the flavors to be.

I always add syrup to my cake but not to the mix itself. Once it is baked i brush the syrup over the cake surface before adding buttercream - it helps keep the cake moist IMO and preserves the longevity of the cake.
