It is still unbelievable! If someone would have told me this time last year that in a year I would be decorating cakes or own my own business I would have told them they were crazy!!!!
My best friend and I made our very first cake just this past August for my daughter, because we couldn't find ANYONE in town who could do it (of course with cupcakes made as a back up plan). We had no idea what we were doing and kinda shocked ourself! Shortly after that I found this wonderful website with the most friendliest people who are nothing but helpful! Before we knew it we were getting requests to make cakes and here we are 6 months later about to open the doors to our very own cake shop and are completely booked for the month of March. We couldn't have done it without the inspiration of all of you wonderful people! THANK YOU SO MUCH and wish us luck!
I would also love any advice from all of you who have been there and done that... what to do or what not to do! Thanks Again!!!!!!!
That is so wonderful!! I too wish to open my own shop someday. For now it's just a dream. I wish you the best of luck and congratulations. Everyone here at CC is so helpful. I love this site. I feel like I have made friends here even though I have no idea who anyone really is. BTW, what part of Louisiana are you from? I am originally from New Orleans (Kenner actually) If you are anywhere near I will send my friends and family to your shop. Good luck and happy cakin
Wow~ That is so inspiring. I am just getting started making cakes....you story makes me want to learn even more! I just looked at your pictures also and to think that you just started in August.....WOW!
Contratulations! I just opened mine in October of last year. In LA, too. Where are you? I'm in Southwest LA.
Yeah! Congratulations - this must feel like a great accomplishment.
I just opened a 'by appointment' bakery last December with two other gals, and whenever I walk out, I turn around when shutting off the lights, I see all the pretty stainless-steel commercial equipment, and think "wow - this is mine - pinch me!" - my partner thinks I'm nuts! I hope you have the same feeling!!
I think the only mistake I made was not knowing the most efficient way to store items so my work pattern is the fastest it can be. But I think over time, just moving things around will get you there (obvioulsy, your bigger items (sinks, gas lines, etc...) you won't want to move!
