I have been reading the article on this site about making a fondant bow and the bow loops. How long do I need to make the strips for the loops to go on a 6" cake? And would that size still go around a broom handle? Also, about how many loops do you think I will need?

Thanks in advance.

i make my strips about 6inches long so thats a 3 inch loop. Then i make a few shorter like 4 1/2, i use around 20 or so loops for a bow. I also use the 6 inch pan to form the bow on, so that i know it will fit and not look too big or too small.

I'm with peg - I do the same except they are all 6" long and I use about 16 but make 20 just in case of breakage - but I make mine out of gum paste. I've had too many problems with fondant - even after adding gum tex and tylose - it still has a tendancy to be very sensitive to heat and humidity and soften. I work to hard and long to let anything stand in the way of disaster. Check out my pix of my bow - same thing on the size - use the pan as a size pattern so you'll be sure it fits. Good luck. thumbs_up.gif

Thanks, your bows are really pretty. I will give it a try this week.
