Can anyone tell me how they went about accomplishing the figures on this cake?
It looks like frosting on gumpaste maybe? Does anyone know the technique? I would like to make a similar cake for my niece's 5th birthday in a few months and I would be most appreciative if so! =D
this looks like "rosebuds" work. not sure how they do it, i know they always describe it as "buttercream" though? perhaps buttercream layered on fondant/gumpaste cut-outs to give it strength?
ha! just saw where you said pretty much the same thing : ) definitely have to have a talent for this type of work!
I believe the technique is a frozen buttercream transfer

Yup..This is Rosebuds work..They are awesome..I think they said on Flickr that they make gumpaste plaques and pipe on them..Their cartoonist are Unreal!!! I wish I could make cakes like that!!
I'm thinking it's made out of royal icing b/c she's standing up...maybe using the FBCT method but with royal icing. and it looks like a lot of layers of the royal too....that's really a masterpiece!
Your right as it turns out his is Rosebuds work! I absolutely love thier cakes they rock!
I was on rosebuds site looking at this cake. And I ampretty sure it said the castle is made of chocolate
Wow! Wow! Wow! OMG! I checked out Rosebud's site and Flicker and all I have to say is "W-O-W!" I feel sooooo inadequate now! I could practice 22 hours a day for 20+ years and never see this level of artistry!
