Which Design Do You Like Better?

I'm debating on making a second entry for an upcoming show, but can't decide on the design. Here are two I've drawn up:
Cake #1
Cake #2
Sorry for the poor quality photos. As if my drawing wasn't bad enough, the scanner did a number on the colors. ![]()
Basically the first is square, tilted tiers covered in black. The scrolls would be piped in RI and painted silver. The "gaps" would be filled in with textured ribbon roses with a coordinating frill covering the bottom of the raised dummies. The bows are self-explanatory. ![]()
The second has those small, separating tiers that will just be covered in red fondant. The top and bottom tier would be white with painted cherries, pink sugar pearls, and a ribbon wrapping around the center of the tier. The middle tier would be covered in gumpaste "sequins" that have been dusted in sparkle dust. The cherry design on that tier would be made out of the sequins like a mosaic.
Which do you guys like better?
BTW, the category this would be entered in is "intermediate tiered fondant."
Thanks!
well it depends what kind of crowd/contestants the show has. The first one it's more interesting for the novices...but it's been done before (the kids of topsy turvy wedge design.
The other one to me looks more modern/with more textures...so me personally would like the second one better.
Good luck!
I love Cake #1. It is fun and happy! Cake #2 seems a bit stiff and awkward. Just my thoughts...
Seems like almost everyone likes the first. So do I. Shhh. ![]()
Thanks everyone!
#2 for me. If you pull off the sequins do you know how much that will rock?!?!? ![]()
Aaah! Now all the votes are coming in for number #2. I should have set up a poll!
I think GenGen has the best idea. Structure of #1 with the design of #2.
#2. I do like the idea of #2 stacked like #1
i like cake #2 it's really different and unique
i LOVE cake #2! It's modern and hasn't really been done before. I'd love to see what that cake when it's all done!
