How Do I Make Those Little Streamers?

I think I have an idea, but just wanted to check- how do I make those little squiggly streamers you put on New Years/celebration cakes??

The curly-Q ones? Skinny piece of fondant or gumpaste wrapped around a wooden spoon handle to dry. Grease the handle with crisco or powder it with cornstarch first. Hth!

I used a clay extruder to make the curly streamers on my New Years Eve cake.

I made mine by winding them around dowel rods, and wait for them to dry a bit and then carefully remove and place on cake. hth

Thanks - that's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure! I never knew I could use an extruder, though. Good to know... I am just waiting for my new one! icon_biggrin.gif

I used straws....they worked perfectly!
