I have to make a cake for the local fire department officer dinner and wanted to do something different than a regular cake. I am thinking probably about 50 people. I was thinking making individual cakes so the kitchen help could just serve and not have to worry about cutting.....any suggestions on what to put on them. I had seen somewhere, candy melts poured on the cake as icing sort of like poured fondant.......any ideas would be very helpful.

thanks

There are many way one could go w/this ordericon_smile.gif
Bake mini hearts or 1/2 balls or most any mini shaped cakes. Most of them w/fit nicely on 6" cake rounds. OR cut foam core board into 4, 5, or 6" sqs?
OR bake up a sheet & cut into 2x2 sqs then cover w/fondant.
It is NOT easy to cover any shape w/poured icing. I find it easier to cover w/fondant icon_smile.gif
If you *cut* any size/shape one way to stop crumbs is to pour warm/melted canned (or any ) b'cream icing and spread quickly w/spatula as needed. Let dry then cover w/fondant.
