Hi everyone! My niece was going to be getting a Barbie doll cake for her 6th birthday but has informed me that she wants a camo cake! I asked her if she wanted a pink camo and she said, "No Aunt Missy--a green one like my pants!" Very cheeky too I might add. Anyway, I don't want to go totally boyish on this. I already have 4 boys and was so looking forward to doing a little girl's cake. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can pull this off? Thanks!
THe cake isn't for you. If she wants an army barbie cake, then that's what she gets .... not a girlie cake.
As the mom of a daughter who served in the Army, I am luvin' this little 6 year old!
LOL, totally agree with Debi on this one. Give the little girl her dream camo cake. She'll love it!
You can make a nice green dress, then put camo bows on her I guess. Makes me think of the "Ace of Cakes" rubber ducky cake with the camo bow.
As a child who was lucky enough to not have gender stereotypes forced upon her while growing up, I always loved the hell out of my birthday cakes. Some years I wanted My Little Pony and some years I asked for He-Man and I got them. I think that if this little girl wants a camouflage cake, then that's what she should get. Not every girl is "girly" and it is her birthday, after all.
I think I'd just do a round camo cake, then put a pink loopy bow on top and her name on the side of the cake in pink. Since she's just turning 6 now, there's a few more years when she may want the Barbie cake, that doesn't have to be combined with the camo cake
You are all great! You're absolutely right Indy, it isn't for me. Riley's Dream Camo Cake it is! (But I still think I'll slip pink letters in there! lol)
By the way, I did try to sell her on the Camo Barbie and she told me I was silly! Barbie doesn't wear camo, Aunt Missy! Her mom saiys she is just really into camo right now and blames it on them bringing her home from the hospital in a hunting camo outfit lol
Thanks for all the ideas and insight.
