My kids love, it's edible Play Doh to them.
At the end of the week I bring home my little left over scraps and the kids go to town.
The build stuff and then eat it, good fun!
But when I put it on a cake they tend to eat the cake and leave the fondant so go figure.
Sorry could'nt be more help.
being in britain , the fondant seems too be the best part of the cake .
i'm yet too meet a child who doesn't like all that sugary goodness ![]()
My daughter goes crazy when I am preparing fondant, but she loves buttercreasm.. I just have to say that kids love sugar, so no matter what you make they are going to love...![]()
My 2 year old loves it!!!! I've only made MMF about seven times, but when he sees it sitting on the counter he automatically says cake (as that's what he relates it too - he is only 2) and then he starts conniving how he can get some of it when I'm not looking - and he's pretty good at it, lol
Oh and I just made a princess cake for my daughters 1st birthday and I think she ate the entire fondant tiara.
I make MMF and add flavoring to the mix...even if it's just vanilla. This past weekend I made chocolate MMF and it was a huge hit with everyone! No, none of my family really likes the Wilton brand but they all love the MMF that I make. As for school cupcakes...I would think buttercream would be an all time pleaser and in my experience, easier to do in larger quantities than fondant covered ones.
Good luck!

My family loves Marshmallow fondant - my 2 teenagers and my 3 and 5 yr old niece and nephew....And everyone loves it when I splurge and use Choco -pan. My 17 yr old son will even take plain sugar cookies and roll out mmf and put it on cookies himself ! If you know teenage boys, - doing that for himself, must mean it is good, LOL !
My kids are 1 1/2 and 3 years old... they don't give a hoot about cake. They like icing. But they like fondant even better! I think it's because they can "play with it"...
DS2 didn't eat any cake or icing from his first birthday cake - he played with the icing and smashed the cke up, but he ATE a cut-out fondant truck that I gave him. So yeah, if it's good fondant, they'll like it.
My grandchildren, ages 2 and 4 love fondant. They will pick all the fondant decorations off the cake or cupcakes if you don't stop them. I usually use a large star tip to make a frosting swirl on the cupcake and then add a fondant accent. They've been a big hit with all the children, so far. ![]()
My kids (well the 3 who are old enough to eat it anyway) LOVE fondant - ages 2, 7 & 10. I almost always use Michelle Foster's fondant and that is what they prefer but they will not turn down MMF or Satin Ice either. My oldest will even eat Wilton, but says he doesn't like it THAT much but doesn't hate it enough to peel off either.
