when I make my MMF and after getting it soft enuff to roll out, it looks gritty. the bits of sugar make it look a mess!!!

I want my hmmade MMF to look like the white wiltons fondant!!

what am I doing wrong?

Ive had that happen to me before when I got a bag of powdered suagr that for some reason seemed extra clumpy, almost as if it didnt have enough corn starch in it. Stupid me noticed it but thought id be ok without sifting it but low and behold i had problems! Thats the only time that has happened to me, did your sugar seem kinda of clumpy?

That happens to me when I use Imperial brand sugar. It doesn't happen with Domino or C&H. Also, if you sift the sugar first it can help a lot.
