I am painting on gumpaste (mixture of color and vodka) and after 2 days, it's still tacky/sticky to the touch? Will it ever completely dry? Should I just be using color and no alcohol?

Also, should I wait until the gumpaste is completely dry before I paint?
Appreciate the advice! icon_smile.gif

Sounds like your ratio of gel paste to vodka was too heavy on the gel paste. Even when it's humid here, my paint dries w/in 24 hours. The vodka should actually help the paint to evaporate faster.

I agree - ratio is off. I usually let gumpaste dry before painting. Just because it can take it a lot longer to dry completely .

yes i agree with the other guys about the ratio maybe being too heavy on the colour. When i paint with straight gel colour it takes a very long time to dry and is always still a bit tacky whereas when i dilute the gel paste with vodka so it is thinner is dries in no time.

You don't want hardly any vodka, but you don't want so much so it ends up very watercoloury, just in between
