I was thinking the same thing dandelion i need to know how to transport my tree and how present other balls on a platter.
Ok, I have never made a cake ball tree but I have made a strawberry tree and it was 3ft tall. (Going to try and include pic) The first one we transported with one driver and a helper to hold onto the tree, but that doesn't always work cost wise or logistically so what I did to transport it the last few times was drilled a hole down the middle of the cone with a dowel. Then glued that dowel to a styrofoam base and placed my cone on top of the base. I put wax paper between the base and cone, and constructed my strawberries to the form. When I got it to my delivery we lifted it up placed it on the table and finished it off at the top.
I'm still looking for an easier way, lol Of course I don't know if I'll be doing 3 ft tall cakeball trees.
EDIT sorry would not let me add the attactment but you can see it on my website under towers.
So glad to see some sites for packaging options for cake balls-that had me stumped. I will need to downsize a bit to find a box to fit a doz balls into, tho!
Ok so i recieved an order for a cake ball tree. They said they would pay me $50 for supplies, which is fine, but how do i charge for my time and transportation?
What would you pay someone to come and work with you? Or you might want to check what the going rate is in your area for bakers/designers. Factor in your time.
Mileage, what does a gallon of gas cost you, how much time and gas do you figure you would need to deliver the product?
HTH
I think the govt mileage suggestion is at $.55/mile. How much would you pay yourself? Don't forget you'll have prep, utilities, & clean up as well. No way would I do the 9" tall one for less than $65-70. I'm actually thinking about higher than that if I get a request. Chocolate prices have gone up here & it took me 61 balls to cover the foam cone.
Just delivered my first order and I charged $10/dozen, but my client thinks I should charge more. Is there a good way to change my price even though I have already told a few people the cost?
My suggestion would be to tell your customers your $10/ doz is an introductory price and that it will go up after _____
