One of the great conveniences of instant information. A lot of it is incorrect at times, eh? 20 years ago, we'd only know about this when we got home for the news.

How lovely. I find it hard to believe that wasn't one of the first flipping places to check. Sheesh! Oh well...important thing is he's safe. Poor little guy, he's going to be so confused over all the hoopla.

I have extreme doubts about all this, and I smell hoax, or at least publicity stunt.

On the CBS National News at 5:30PM CDT, after it was discovered that the child was in the attic (possibly for the whole time, and never in the balloon/basket) a reporter said this family had recently been on the (ABC?) TV show "Wife Swap," the boys have videos on youtube and the husband is a well known storm chaser.

Makes me wonder, for sure...

Thank God the little guy is OK and I really hope this wasn't some sort of publicity stunt.

It could be publicity, it could also be a child overreacting, afraid of being in trouble. I heard the parents were beside themselves all afternoon, and the boy was in a box in the attic! I had a talk with my 6 yr old about this today-telling him that if he ever makes a mistake to come to us, not hide and scare us. Phew!

I am just a big skeptic these days...we see so much created drama everywhere.

OfficerMorgan, I had similar talks with my son when he was small. I told him that should always come to us and tell us the truth if he did something wrong, and that he would be in worse trouble if we found out from someone else. He's 22 now and is so honest it's almost frightening. We may have created a truth monster. icon_wink.gif

You're right this is a great opportunity for all parents to tell their kids that very same thing officermorgan.

Not that I am not happy the boy is ok, I was sick about it yesterday, but Fox News is reporting, "Falcon's father asked, "Why didn't you come out?" The boy answered, "You had said we did this for a show."

Later, Richard Heene bristled when the family was asked to clarify and said he didn't know what his son meant. He didn't ask his son what he meant by "a show."

That makes me SO mad!!

icon_eek.gif Wow, that would totally suck if they set this up. They should be made to pay for all the rescue efforts that were used if that is indeed what they were doing.

The interviews look suspicious to me. They were on the early show this morning and they just don't act like they are telling the truth. I hope they are. I want to believe it was just a freak set of circumstances.

And who the heck would drag their family onto a freaking talk show the next day anyways? I would be recovering from the emotional stress!

if this is a hoax the whole U.S.A. was taken asvantage of as in emotions for the kiddo and lots of $$$ and I for one don't regret caring for a child but I DO regret the $$$ and feel like they are no better than people that steal and I agree they should pay the money back or go to prison like a common criminal would. IMHO I could think of a lot of ways the money could do so much good for a lot of people, sorry for venting but this makes me so mad. I felt so bad for sadsmile, I prayed for her also.

Awe thanks Tatorchip! I still can't hold it together when I hear an ambulance. On Tuesday on the way to dropping the kids off at school I had to pull over to let one pass. I turned into a sobering mess. It takes me right back to that day. She is 100% fine and has no issues at all, but I found her blue and not breathing in the water. that was the scariest thing in my life. I just turn into a blubbering heap thinking about who is riding in those ambulances and just pray for em. I'm teary eyed right now even. LOL I am such an emotional thing. Sniffle sniff.

Sorry, but right here is a perfect example of allowing "Culling the herd". These people are nothing but dregs of society. The only thing they are good for is as an example of what NOT to become. To think they will more than likely procreate again. It's an evil cycle.

Not to mention the money it cost for the rerouting of airplanes around the balloon, and I saw that one airport closed for a bit while this was happening! Denver Metro or something like that!

At one point, the news said the balloon would have reached Metro Denver within an hour!
