I am really wanting to make a noah's ark to go on a cake for a baby shower. But I have been thinking that I could just make the ark out of dummies. I have never used dummies and was wondering if there are any tricks to it. Can I just carve the dummies and apply the fondant? What if I need to stack dummies, do I just use regular dowels? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks, Kati

Yes you can carve styrofoam and or dummies. I would suggest thought that you "file" all the edges after you are done carving so that your fondant doesn't tear on the sharp corners when you apply it to the styrofoam. You can even use a discarded piece of styrofoam as the sander.
