does anyone have a recipe for royal icing that does not use menengue powder in the iding. i've looked everywhere for some, but short of having to order it online (just not an option right now) I have no clue what to do to substitute. Please help!

Just use fresh egg whites. I do this all the time:

2 large egg whites

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

3 cups Powdered Sugar

Yep, fresh egg whites is the way to go!

Here's another one for you:

3 large (room temp) egg whites
1lb powdered sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Beat eggwhites and cream of tartar to a soft peak. Add sugar gradually.

HTH

Def use 1/8 tsp cream of tartar for every egg white WHENEVER you are needing to whip egg whites!
