So I love the wasc cake, but had a friend asked me to do a vanilla cake. Would it taste ok if I used the WASC recipe but used french vanilla box mix and then only used vanilla flavoring, or would that be too much? Or should I just use the white cake mix and then only the vanilla flavor.. they do not want the almond in it

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Funny you should ask. I just had the same request last weekend. I used Duncan Hines French Vanilla mix, but followed the wasc recipe. The only other change I made is that I added 3 tsp of vanilla extract, and about 1/2 tsp almond. Oh, and I used 6 whole eggs instead of 8 whites. It was yummy, but I still prefer the flavor of wasc. I just think the vanilla is too mild a flavor for me.

Well, french vanilla is a combination of vanilla and hazelnut. Why not follow the recipe but instead use the hazelnut for the almond. Or, just use a FV box mix and then don't add any almond. that's the only things I can think of.

good luck!
