HELLO ALL, IS THERE ANYONE OUT HERE THAT CAN EXPLAIN THE USE OF THE FLOWER NAIL TO ME?????? DO YOU POUR YOUR BATTER AND THEN PLACE THE FLOWER NAIL IN THE MIDDLE? ONCE THE CAKE BAKES IS THERE A CERTAIN WAY TO PULL THE FLOWER NAIL OUT WITHOUT MAKING THE CAKE A DISASTER? ANY HELP IS VERY APPRECIATED!!!!
Spray the flower nail with pam spray. Put it in the middle of the pan, upside down. Pour the batter in around the nail. Bake. Cool 10 min, then invert on cooling grid and lift off pan. Using a fork (because that nail is HOT) lift the flower nail out of the cake. You'll end up with an itty bitty little hole in the cake.

LOL, I am feeling really stupid about now. LOL....ROFL...I tried this last week and I tried to put the flower nail into the batter...right side up...and of course it wouldn't stand up...I thought, "how the heck does this work!" Decided not to do it. Sometime my blonde moments are REALLY blonde! Just thought I would share this one! LOL

Thanks for posting this. Do you use this method for all size cakes or just larger cakes?

I use it for all cakes with the exception of 6". I just automatically do it out of habit now.
