I have normal food colouring from the grocery store and wilton gel food colouring (Christmas Red). I have tried everything to make the cake batter bright red, but it just stays pink. I am making a watermelon cake for my moms birthday tomorrow night.

Please help me!!

For what's its worth, I think a deep pink color looks fine for watermelon. I don't think it should be a bright (cherry) red. That said, since it's cake batter, the liquid color from the grocery store should work just fine so maybe if you just add a bit more the color will deepen.

The Wilton Gel color will turn BRIGHT red the longer it sits.
