My daughter and myself are up visiting grandma and grandpa for a bit. Of course now that I'm here grandma (my mom) wants me to make a cake for her coworkers b-day. And of course, not thinking about the fact that this is supposed to be a VACATION I said yes. I don't have any of my tools with me. We are in a very small town and the only tips that Walmart had was the #3 (straight line) tip for writing or what have you and the normal sized star tip.

My mom has been showing pics of my cakes and talking me up to everyone so I want to do something that's a little more than decent. I'm going to pick up some starbursts and make some roses out of those. Can you guys give me any other ideas? It's just an 8" round with buttercream.

Oh and I have to decorate tonight so please help!

think you could do something like this:

yes, the second is fondant flowers but you could do similar with a round or star tip, no?

good luck!

fruit roll ups are quite versitile and can be cut up for designes (think rolling curves) and for leaves/stems of flowers on top or the sides of cakes.

You can also make a leaf tip out of a ziplock bag. Just cut a small "V" out of the corner to make the "tip". Check out: http://www.hellocupcakebook.com/Hello_Cupcake_Tips.html
