Recently I was reading a post where the poster mentioned "extending" a cake mix. Can someone tell me more about this please?

Hi BeeBoos,
I think they are referring to using a box mix and adding extra ingredients too it. There is a book called the cake-mix doctor where there are some great extended recipes. The cult favorite in this website is for White Almond Sour Cream. Delicious! You can search the recipe tab under cake mix cakes for more ideas too.
Hope that is what you were looking for.

Here is the recipe link. It turns out really good. I use it all the time.

I use this one from time to time to extend one cake mix to one and a half. I use it on other flavors of cakes than chocolate, with vanilla pudding instead of the chocolate, or another coordinating flavor of pudding.

This thread has all the extended/enhanced recipes, as well as just about everything that has ever been added to a cake mix:

I use the WASC all the time. For some reason I thought that there must be something I was missing. Thanks all.
