I don't know if this is the right thing to do or not but i wrap mine in plastic wrap and heat it up a bit in the microwave it seems to soften it up. I use mmf and I when it is cracking I will roll it out on the plastic wrap the just pick it up on the plastic wrap and turn it over ans lay it on the cake and peel off the plastic wrap, hope this helps
