what recipes can i use for buttercream so it comes out super white w. out using shortening ??..thankssS icon_rolleyes.gif

Let's face it.....butter is yellow. But if you whip it for say 5 minutes it will lighten up in color and texture. Then add your sugar. You will never have pure white but you can try adding *one small!* drop of blue or violet to it .... that helps some.

There's no magic to pure white frosting - just use an all shortening recipe.

As kakeladi said, (if you don't wish to use shortening) your butter based buttercream will not be pure white.

That's just how it is.... Sorry that's not what you wanted to hear..
