This is the design for my son's 1st bday cake. I would like the monkey to be cake, In what ways could I accomplish this?

Should I use pound cake?

What could I use for the arms/legs/tail?

What kind of support could I use?

TIA!

You can make the monkey with fondant and gum paste. I think is better in gum paste and fondant then you can use some sticks to put the monkey on the cake. Check some pictures of cakes on the galleries to get some ideas. The sketch look nice. I bet you can't wait to see the finish results. Well good luck!

I think i will use a dowel through the monkey. Should I stick the dowel in the cake and then put the finished monkey on top of that or....should i stick the dowel through the monkey and then stick the monkey on the cake?
