How Do I Make A Teapot Cake?

Well I know how to make the cake but how do I attach the spout and handle? Won't it slide down or somehow try to fall? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. 
What I've done that works well for me is to insert a skewer in the spout and about half a toothpick in the ends of the handle before they dry. I've used 100% gumpaste, 50/50 fondant & gumpaste and fondant with tylose added to make the spouts and handles and have used this method with all of them.
I then use a little tylose glue on the teapot base and stick the pieces in. Be sure to make extra handles - I've broken a few before!
