Ok Gang! Here I am again in need of help, yet again lol.
I've been asked to make a cake from a picture (an offline source that is unknown at this time), I have not seen the photo as of yet but it is going to be given to her sister who will then give it to me.
The cake is for a baby shower and is said to be a simple two tiered cake. But I'm sure it will have some sort of flowers on it and I'm sure it'll have roses on it.... Now there is my problem.. I can't make roses or any other flower for that matter ![]()
Does anyone know of a place where I can buy pre-made flowers?? Yes I know that's cheating but if I could make them myself I would.
Or is there anyone that lives close by that would be willing to help me out even for a small charge??? I live in Easton Maryland which is roughly 45 minutes to an hour from the Bay Bridge.... I'm willing to travel to the bridge but am scared to death of bridges so crossing it would be a major problem so if someone is willing and able to lend me a hand that's a bit closer or is willing to travel to this side of the bridge that can help I'd greatly appreciate it!!!
Again I don't have a picture yet, and I don't know what flowers, if any, I'll need yet. I'm just wondering if there is a place I can purchase them IF they are needed.... Thanks in advance everyone ![]()

I've never orderd from here, but this place sells them:

They don't seem to be tooooo expensive. But have you tried making any flowers?
Post the pic when you find out what you need.
The cake and wedding cottage in Balt. Co. has a good selection of gumpaste flowers. There's also Kake Kraft in Glen Burnie - they have some there also. Of course they're both on this side of the bridge. Take a look at Cakes by Sam too - they have a good selection of sugar flowers.
Good Luck
Debbie
Thanks for the info both of you
I'm debating taking some anxiety pills and heading to Bmore area to do some cake shopping anyway around tax time I just hope this order isn't until after then lol. I can drive the Bay Bridge it just bothers me BIG TIME! Last time I was driving it was for a concert in downtown baltimore and it was a very VERY foggy night and there was two way traffic on the West bound span so I was in trouble with that alone but the fog added to it made it 10 times worse and by the time I reached the tip top of the bridge I was shaking and having trouble breathing and had tears running down my face... So needless to say I don't like it but can and will do it if I HAVE to lol.
We don't have many supply stores around here at all. One here in town except for the little tiny bit Walmart offers. And the one we have doesn't offer very much at all mainly just the birthday party sets (pan, deco's, etc.) so either way I'll have to travel to get the things I need to expand what I already have (eBay has been wonderful! lol) but I was hoping someone would want to be my very bestest cake buddy friend and would be willing to do some shopping for me and meet me on this side of the bridge LMAO! Good luck eh!
Anyway thanks to both of you and maybe someone from my side of the Bay will come visit me and help me learn how to make them lol.
And yes to answer the one question I have tried making roses before and out of about 20 roses I had one turn out nicely but that was it and I just can't get them right. I've made the rose buds but there is only so much you can do with them lol. I was thinking about posting a how to question on Starburst roses since the parents to be are only teenagers and love candy lol but haven't thought about doing them enough to do that lol.
hey I used to be a B-more girl myself. I know what driving over that bridge is like!! It's not as bad when you can drive in the middle lane but when they add that two way traffic it scares the heck out of ya!!! Sorry I cant help with the flowers but here is a bump for ya...
Thanks everyone. Maybe I could talk with the grocery store bakery and find out if I could order some from them... I'll have to wait until I know what colors I need I guess lol. I'm sure I'll be posting back when I get the picture and I'll be sure to scan it and attach it lmao.
Thanks again gang!
Becky
Boy, it's good to know that I am not the only one scared of that bridge ![]()
I have two brothers in the DC and Laurel, MD area. Wish it was time for me to visit them because I would certainly help you out.
Do you think she would except Royal Icing Roses? I could make and ship them to you ![]()
When you say Bay Bridge, do you mean the one that crosses the Chesapeake? I went across that water on the train one time. At some places you could look out the window, and directly down to the water! Now, that's scary!
I do not know if you want to travel for flowers or not, but Pfeil and Holing sells very nice royal icing flowers, gumpaste sprays that are already made. They can be pricey, depending upon what you order. They require a $50 minimum, but you will have your flowers in about 3 days. And trust me, you will find it easy to spend $50 there.

Oh I love making gumpaste flowers! Have you tried them? I find them to be so much easier then making bc or royal roses.
How many do you need? Do you need a spray or individual roses? When do you need them by?
I would be willing to make gumpaste flowers for you and ship them to you.
PM me if you are interested.
If not, then maybe you could find a friend to drive you over the bridge and to the shop. You can close your eyes when you go over the bridge ![]()
I'm not a big bridge fan myself. So I do understand.
There are also tons of places on the Internet that will sell gumpaste flowers. Do a Google search and see what is out there that you like.
Thank you everyone for your very kind thoughts in helping me and your great advice on the shops as well as the internet shops.
I spoke with the lady who wants the cake last night and she is going to email me a picture of it tonight from work (after 11 pm
) so I won't see it until tomorrow morning when I come online. But she described it to me. She did find it on Google I was told it was just a picture she had so... but the way she described it was this:
Basically an all white cake no colors, two tier, has the word baby written all over it, as well as some baby trinkets like the diaper pins and stuff all around the cake and a tiara and some curly ribbon on the top with the word baby there as well....
Well I searched google images for 3 hours last night under baby shower cakes, diaper cakes, (that's what she was looking for when she found this picture), and I can't find it anywhere! So I'll wait until she emails it to me and we'll see if I even need the flowers. I was thinking I would need them because most cakes have at least roses on them but she didn't say ANYTHING about flowers when we spoke last night so we'll see....
Again thank you all!!! And I will keep you all in mind for when I need flowers in a pinch ![]()
