Generic Boilerplate Wedding Contract
Business By Doug Updated 30 Nov 2016 , 4:13pm by sistersvillesweets
so, this is the current state of a project I started long ago in
a) response to all the "sturm und drang" of cake mishaps/sagas/client done me wrong etc. and.
b) in hopes of some day maybe having my own caking venture.
DISCLAIMER: it is NOT a legal contract for you to use straight off -- it MUST be vetted by your lawyer to see that it conforms to the laws in your state! (example -- some states allow deposits but not retainers, others just the opposite. some allow non-refund deposit/retainer and others do not -- so off to the lawyer this MUST go)
THANK YOU!!!! to each and every one of you who ever posted a clause, sentence, phrase, paragraph or linked to a full contract. Without your gracious sharing this could not have come into existence or continue to evolve. (My way of saying I have freely "borrowed"/copied and modified to make it as you see it and can't even begin to name all the people who's work was used!)
Feel free to comment, suggest changes, adapt, etc. as you see fit (example changing it from just one cake a weekend to however many you do)
I've also included my first stab at the delivery wavier (for those insisting on self pick-up)
Please take note of how each clause has a place for the client to initial to indicate the clause has been covered in the discussion -- just extra insurance!
Sad it has to be so long to deal with all the cake muggles!
silly question, i know, but what program are you using to convert this to your bakery info..word? excel?
also, if you are in fact able to do that, how do you make it where the words "sample" does not show up...do i need to retype the whole thing?
it looks really wonderful, and has taken you a very long time to do, doug!! thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
if you have access to Adobe Acrobat, it should read the pdf and let you extract the text. (as should many other pdf conversion utilities)
of course that will loose all the original "pretty" formatting.
so....let's see if this works.....
go to this link: https://drop.io/cc_contract/login
Password: cruffles
(case sensitive )
(hint -- copy from here and paste there)
that should let you in and then you can download both the contract and wavier as Word files.
(if these drops work -- it could just be an answer to sharing Word files on here)
Wow, Doug, thanks once again! I am sure you touched all the bases, and I am glad to see that you are advising to have the contract read by a local attorney before using.
Theresa
That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing! I love how you can put all of your own info in...like the company name and webpage!
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire...
No wonder your Calvin has that look on his face, saying "Oh, my"
Doug,
You did a wonderful job thinking through what is important to cover all your bases. This must have taken a while. I appreciate all your work.
I do think your cake business name is terrific.
Thank you for sharing your new contract.

Love this contract!!!
Any chance you can throw in some wording (just here in the thread even) on dealing with complaints? I am having trouble coming up with wording that doesn't sound bitchy.
