Question About Fondant And Cake Mixes???

for those of you who cover your cakes with fondant...do you find it easier to do this with cake mixes or with scratch cakes??? icon_confused.gif

i have a tiered graduation cake in june and i'm wondering which type of cake would be best.

I use doctored cake mixes, and I have never had a problem. I use the WASC repice and the chocolate version and get rave reviews. I have heard that just a straight box mix made according to the directions is pretty fluffy, and can squish under fondant. HTH

i was thinking the same thing. i guess i will go with doctored cake mixes...i haven't found a scratch cake recipe that i like.

I use the WASC and versions of it. It is more dense and holds up well.
