I want to start a cake decorating business. Can anyone tell me where I need to start and how to get there? I am very overwhelmed.

Hello, I think a bit more information would help people answer this but:

* Are you licensed? (laws vary from state to state and you can find this out at your local City Hall and State dept. of Agriculture.) To me, this is the best place to start. (I wanted to do everything "by the book", but everyone is different and has their own comfort level.)

There are many threads discussing this very issue. I'll try and find a few and post links here.

I know when I began it was overwhelming, but just breathe and take it slow. icon_smile.gif

what state are you in? This will be the thing that really impacts the route you need to take. There is a major difference in what you need to do if you can bake at home legally or if you have to get a storefront-type of loc. There's a sticky in the biz forum that talks about each state's requirements. That would be a good place to start.
