If i made the royal icing to thin can i just add powerder sugar to make it thicker and if so how much at a time should i add.

Did you mix it for at least 7-10 minutes? It may be thin because it hasn't been mixed enough - that's usually the problem.
Yes, you can add some ps - but can't advise how much unless we could see it. Start w/a tablespoon or so.
